Public servants in the UAE could enjoy a holiday of five to nine days to mark Eid Al Fitr, which is expected to start on July 28 at the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

According to well-known Kuwaiti astronomer Adel Al Saadoun, Eid Al Fitr will begin on July 28, which means that Ramadan will be 29 days.

However, the break this year could start on Sunday, July 27 and continue till Wednesday.

In this case, the break will be five days including Friday and Saturday.

If Ramadan is 30 days and Eid starts on July 29, then the break could be six days starting from Sunday till Thursday, when government offices reopen.

If the government decides to extend the break to include Thursday, then the holiday will be as long as nine days starting from Friday July 25 and ending Saturday August 2.
