The Federal Cabinet has approved the school calendar for the next three years.
The total number of number of school days has been reduced from 189 this year to 175 days. And, added 14-days to the number of school holidays.
The beginning of the academic year 2015-2016 will be August 30, 2015, while staff members will return to work on August 23.
The winter vacation will be three weeks and the spring break two weeks.
Students will conclude their academic year on June 23, and staff members on July 5.
Last year, the Ministry of Education had added 10 extra days to the school calendar.
The Cabinet said the decision was in line with the global standards and the education criteria contained in the national agenda of the UAE.
