It’s back to school time, not just for the students, but also for the teachers. Several schools in the UAE are looking to hire teachers and support staff  to gear up for the post-holiday session.

Gems Education, the largest education provider in the country, is looking to hire teachers across disciplines in its various schools and other staff members for its institutions.

Teachers are needed in schools such as Cambridge International, Jumeirah Primary School, Wellington Academy (Al Khail) and World Academy among others in Dubai.

Positions have also opened up in its Abu Dhabi schools such as American Academy and World Academy.

The company is also hiring staff in its corporate office. There are options for those looking to relocate to other GCC countries. The education provider has positions to be filled in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Innoventures Education, another education provider in the UAE, is also looking for qualified personnel across its various schools like Dubai International Academy, Raffles World Academy, Raffles International School and Collegiate American School, Raffles International School.

Taaleem schools are also looking for teachers to start work this August. Its schools like Jumeirah Baccalaureate, The Children’s Garden, Uptown School, Greenfield Community School and Dubai British Foundation have vacant positions to be filled up.

Schools in the UAE are continuously looking to add teachers as more schools have opened up and more students are being enrolled each year.

According to Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), the total number of students in private schools in Dubai in 2013/14 is 243,715. This is an increase of 8.3 per cent from that in 2012/13 and is the fourth year in a row of high single digit percentage growth.

To cater to this growing demand, more schools are being built. Dubai alone is expected to see 110 new or expanded schools in the city providing seats for around 360,000 students by 2020, leading to a huge demand in the number of teachers required.

KHDA’s figures show that Dubai has a student-teacher ratio of 16:1, which is among the best in the world. Unesco figures reveal that developed countries have a student-teacher ratio of 13.7:1.

Among different curriculum schools in Dubai, Indian schools have the worst student-teacher ratio of 21:1, while British and American schools have a student-teacher ratio of 14:1.
