UAE to unfurl world's largest and longest flags

A company based in Ajman  plans to launch the largest and longest-ever UAE flags that could gain entry into the Guinness  Book of World Records.

Around The World Clocks & Gifts is planning to create a flag measuring 500 metres by 1,000 metres (500,000 square metres) weighing 106,992 kg and costing Dh11.75 million.

According to the company, the proposed flag will be seven times larger than the existing world record of a Lebanese flag made last year and 1,111 times larger than the largest existing UAE flas in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The company also plans to unfurl the longest ever flag measuring 8.5 metres by 30,000 metres (255,000 square metres)  at a cost of Dh5.61 million. The flag will weigh 26,784 kilos and will be almost double the length of existing longest Syrian flag (16km)  launched last year.

Work on both the largest and longest UAE flags  is expected to begin on  September 15 and the flags are likely to be ready by November 25.
