Strong winds and a dipping Mercury will cause a 'significant change' in weather across the UAE‎, with the country's Met office warning of low visibility in parts.

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) for the UAE has also issued a three-day marine warning, with a forecast of rough seas‎ and waves cresting at heights of 10 feet for the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

Speaking to ‘Emirates24|7’, a spokesperson of NCMS said: "The next few days will see a significant change in temperatures, with the Mercury ‎dipping up to six degrees Celsius across the country.

"The fall in temperatures will specially be noticeable over the coastal and western areas‎ of the UAE. By Thursday, this weather pattern will spread to internal and eastern parts, too."

Abetting this weather pattern will be strong, fresh winds, which could rise up to 50 kilometers per hour over the sea, dropping by five knots over land.

However, the winds will also give rise to dust and sand over scattered areas.

NCMS further stated: "Hazy, partly cloudy weather will experience a deterioration in horizontal visibility due to strong, fresh winds blowing dust and sand over open areas.

"‎The weather pattern will continue in a similar manner into Thursday, with another fall in temperatures forecasted."

The air mass will remain steady by later Thursday, according to NCMS, with the weather pattern regaining normalcy by Friday, as the wind speed slows down and the Mercury starts creeping up once again.

‎Meanwhile, when quizzed weather the unpredictable weather pattern experienced in Saudi Arabia, which has resulted in severe rain, hail storms and flooding in parts of the kingdom, could stretch to the UAE, NCMS stated it was highly unlikely, but couldn't be ruled out in its entirety.

The spokesperson said: "Hail and thunderstorms experienced in the south of Saudi, especially Taif and surrounding areas, has been caused by a weather pattern blowing in from the south of Sudan and north of Yemen.

"The mountainous topography has given rise to cumulative clouds that has caused such a severe storm.

"While it's unlikely this weather pattern could stretch all the way to the UAE, the towering clouds have stretched to this country’s borders, with Madinat Zayed and surrounding areas in the country experiencing rainfall on Monday."
