The heat is on and the summer looks ready to be a scorcher as a spike in Mercury over the weekend will see temperatures creep up to 48°Celsius, stated the country’s weather bureau.

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) for the UAE has warned residents will find this weekend, Saturday in particular, uncomfortable as the country experiences a five-degree rise in temperatures.

Speaking with Emirates 24|7, a spokesperson for NCMS stated: “We are experiencing a step by step increase in temperatures , with Friday forecasted to be hot in general, with mist formation in the early morning hours, especially around the western, coastal areas of the UAE.”

However, Saturday is expected to take a turn for the worse, with the NCMS further stating: “By the first half of the day on Saturday, temperatures will hover around 48°C.

“Further adding to the discomfort will be a southern flow, which will be accelerated over the western part of the country, diving rise to dust and sand with visibility dropping down to less than two kilometres.”

The formation of convective clouds will provide some relief from the intense heat, the NCMS further added.

The sea is expected to be slight to moderate over the weekend.
