UAE weekend weather: Highs of 47 °C

Mercury is steadily inching towards the 50-degree mark, with the country’s weather bureau forecasting highs of 47 degrees Celsius this weekend.

The discomfort will increase as humidity levels are also expected to rise simultaneously, according to the UAE’s National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS).

The minimum temperatures have already risen this week, with Thursday’s lows reaching 20.9 degrees Celsius.

The fate on Friday isn’t expected to improve.

The NCMS has forecast hazy and partly cloudy conditions over some areas.

It stated: “Wind speed will be light to moderate, which may become fresh at times by afternoon.

“The sea will be slight to moderate, becoming rough at times by afternoon in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate in the Oman Sea.

“The relative humidity will increase at night and Saturday morning over some coastal and internal areas.”

On Saturday, hazy and partly cloudy weather will remain stet, however, NCMS is warning of blowing dust and sand.

It stated: “The wind will be moderate to fresh and cause blowing dust and sand, especially over some internal areas.”

However, a relief will come in the form of a slight decrease in temperatures, especially over the west. . The relative humidity will increase though during night and Sunday morning over some coastal and internal areas.”

A marine warning has also been issued for Saturday by the NCMS.

It stated: “The sea will be moderate to rough, becoming very rough by evening in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate in the Oman Sea.”
