Abu Dhabi: The British Ambassador to the UAE has confirmed that there are on-going discussions on facilitating visa procedures for Emiratis visiting the United Kingdom.
The envoy, Dominique Jeremy, however, added that as yet no decision has been taken on offering visa on arrival facilities to Emiratis.
He expected a final decision within the next few months, Al Ittihad reported.
Jeremy said that the visit of the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, this month to Britain at the invitation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, is a significant milestone in the history of relations between the two countries.
He added that the visit will be the first since the visit by late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in the eighties of the last century.
He described the visit as historic and said it reflects the strength of relations between the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
