A new visa category was opened by the UK Border Agency (UKBA), facilitating those people who are involved with the Commonwealth Games 2014.

The Commonwealth Games 2014 will be held in Glasgow, from July 23 to August 3, 2014.

Participation in the games or any other involvement with the games is a condition in order to qualify for the visa category.

"Individuals can now apply for a Commonwealth Games visit visa in order to enter the UK and prepare for the Games," informed Newland Chase, an immigration consultancy firm based on the UK on its website.

The visa allows multiple entries to the UK up to September 3, 2014, with a maximum stay of six months for a single visit .

"A letter from the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee must be submitted, which confirms the applicant’s role in relation to the Games.

“Each applicant will also need to submit their biometric information at an appointment, unless an exemption applies," clarifies Newland Chase.

Application can be submitted online through the online application system of UKBA.

The Commonwealth Games are an annually held multi-sports event for the commonwealth nations.

In total 54 nations participate in the event, which is the third-largest international multi-sport event.
