Unification of timings for heavy vehicles discussed

The UAE’s Federal Traffic Council is considering unifying the timings and days for movement of heavy vehicles and maximum speed allowable on highways.

These and other issues were discussed during a meeting of the FTC, presided by Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan , Deputy Prime Minister  and Interior Minister at Abu Dhabi Police headquarters on Sunday.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed urged the FTC to continue to work towards standardization of traffic rules and procedures.

The meeting was attended by Lt. General Saif Al Shafar , Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior , Major General Nasser Lakhraibani Al Nuaimi , Secretary General of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior , Major General Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen , Director of the General Department of Traffic of Dubai Police.

Others who attended the meeting  included Brigadier Ghaith Hassan Al Zaabi, Director General of Traffic Coordination at the Ministry of Interior , Brigadier Ali Khalfan  Al Dhahiri of Abu Dhabi Police , Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harthy , Director of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police , Colonel Saud Al Saadi , Director of the Secretariat of the office of the minister, members of the Federal Council of the traffic , and a number of senior officers .
