Looks like it’s not time to pack away the raincoats and umbrellas. At least, not yet.

According to the forecasts by the National Center of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), some parts of the UAE will get light showers over the next three days.

According to their detailed weather forecast released on NCMS’ official twitter handle, unstable weather conditions will prevail till Saturday.

“Unstable weather conditions are expected during the period (up until Saturday). Where the state will be affected by a trough of surface low pressure extending from the southwest areas of the Arabian Peninsula, associated with a stream of clouds in the upper levels,” it read.

The weather will be partly cloudy today and Thursday, with “some areas in the west of Abu Dhabi emirate, towards Sila, Ruwais, and the Western Islands,” getting light rain tomorrow.

“Moderate Southeast to Northeast winds, freshening at times, 20-30km/hr, may reach to 40km/hr over some areas with clouds,” it added.

“It will cause blowing dust over the exposed areas, with a gradual rise in temperatures.

“Sea will be moderate in general, becoming rough at times with cloud activity in the Arabian Gulf, and moderate in Oman sea.”

NCMS advises residents to exert caution as blowing dust/sand could reduce visibility considerably. “Please take care in case of poor visibility due to blowing dust/sand and rain.”

They also warn against heading to the valley or the beach over the weekend. “There could be water logging near eastern mountains and valley, and the rough sea conditions on Friday, and Saturday” make it unsafe for residents.

Today, the weather will be partly cloudy, with the temperature continuing to rise over some areas.

“Light to moderate winds may freshen at times over the sea. Sea will be slight to moderate in general in Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.”

The lowest temperature recorded on Wednesday was 11.4 degree Celsius in Jais Mountain at 5.45am.

Weekend weather

“As a result of the deepening of low pressure in the upper levels and its moving to east during Friday and Saturday, the weather will be relatively unstable,” NCMS said.

It will be cloudy, and “scattered rain (of varied intensities),” will be recorded “toward east, including the eastern mounts, Al Ain, parts of Northern Emirates, and some areas of Abu Dhabi”.

The report added, “Moderate to fresh winds, reaching 55km/hr with cloud activity, and causing blowing dust/sand with poor visibility at times over the exposed areas”.

A drop in temperatures on Saturday is also forecasted, with “sea (being) rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman sea”.
