It’s the season for romance. So, gear up to be bombarded with everything red and heart-shaped… literally!

While couples, and those hopelessly in love, are busy chalking out candle-light dinner dates on February 14, and scouting around for the perfect gift to sweep their Valentines off their feet, the shopping websites are displaying quirky heart-shaped gifts.

No more subtleties in choosing the perfect gift of love.

It’s red. It’s heart-shaped. It’s tacky. It’s in your face. And, most of all, it’s affordable.

It’s shaped like heart, and it can do more than make your Valentine skip a heartbeat. It can, among other things, tell the time, light up a room and even, relay love messages.

Yes, you read it right.

For those who want to be overtly mushy, and yet not break the bank by opting for the more preferred, pocket-crunchers like diamonds, this could just be the cheesy way out you’ve been waiting for.

From bladeless fans, to glow lamps, to LED message-generating clocks, to cuddly cushions, these heart-shaped gifts are many in sizes and forms.

With prices starting at a bargain-basement of Dh39, these unique gifts can be sourced from websites and shipped to your Valentine free of cost.

There’s even a massive lip-shaped telephone up for grabs at Dh139.

The market is clearly upping the game, and ensuring even the unconventional V-day celebrators aren’t ignored.

“It’s ridiculous, but funny. I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day but by looking at these options, I am tempted to send my wife a glow lamp,” jokes Shekar, a Bur Dubai resident.

Some cheeky ones even think it will bring about a smile on their Valentines.

“It’s outrageous but it’ll be a fun twist to the usual stuff you often gift. My wife has a great sense of humour, and I’m sure this will crack her up,” adds Rakesh, another Bur Dubai resident.

When Emirates 24|7 called one such website asking if these odd finds found any takers in Dubai, they claimed that no product has been sold so far.

Does that mean UAE residents don’t have a heart? Or, aren’t willing to gift one? With 10 days to go for V-Day, it might be a bit too early to say.
