An Indian - who’s virtual obituary had spread on social networking sites almost three weeks back after he met with an accident – succumbed to his injuries. He was in the Intensive Care Unit of Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Abu Dhabi.

B A Abdulla, 54, who worked as a delivery boy for Arab Uduppi Restaurant in Abu Dhabi, had been in the ICU since October 8 after a car hit him on Hamdan Street Abu Dhabi.

He died after fulfilling his long-cherished dream of bringing his wife Khadeeja on visit to Abu Dhabi, said one his friends.

Unfortunately, it was on the same day she landed – three weeks ago - that he was hit by a speeding car. He has been lying unconscious since then, and his virtual death was being circulated on Whatsapp.

“He has been working here for 28 years. It was his dream to get his wife to Abu Dhabi. And his employer gave him a room as well,” said a friend. “However, the news of his false death had saddened his family,” he added.

While his dead body will be repatriated after completing the legal procedures, Khadeeja has already returned to Kerala.

Following the accident and hospitalization, misleading Whatsapp messages were circulating despite his family members clarifying the fact.

The deceased hailed from Thalangara in Kasargodu, Kerala.
