Mouse in Fujairah bakery

A video clip of a mouse running about inside a bakery in Fujairah circulating on social media got residents urging authorities to take action and ensure health of consumers.

Fujairah Municipality confirmed that officials inspected the bakery immediately upon being alerted about the video that shows a mouse running on shelves comprising bread and cookies, reported ‘Emarat Al Youm’.

Mohamed Al-Afkham, Director of Fujairah Municipality, the video was handed over to municipality officials soon after it went viral. He said, officials thoroughly inspected the bakery and found no rats or any pests inside.

AfKham said, it was likely that the video has been circulating for some time now and the owner of the bakery in the meantime took measures to clean the place before inspectors went in to check.

Asila Al Muala, Director, Department of Public Services and Environment, Fujairah Municipality, said the authority takes stringent action against outlets that put consumers’ health at risk and do not maintain hygiene She also said that the Emergency Center or the Health Department has not received any complaint about rats in the bakery.

However, she stressed, and that  the municipality will ensure such no violations and irregularities occur and will fine or shut down outlets.
