A call for UAE residents to vote for the country’s new brand logo has been made on Twitter by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed has requested the social media world to vote for the best nation brand through the official website of the Prime Minister, Uaepm.ae.

The winning design will become the nation’s brand and will be used to promote the UAE, internally and externally, and express its unique aspects that distinguish it from other countries.

According to the directives of His Highness, the participation is open through the website until July 18.

Participants can vote on one of five designs, available in both Arabic and English.

The implementation of the selected design will take place according to a strategic communication plan in coordination with all concerned entities.

The nation brand is different from the UAE official emblem, which is used for formal purposes.

According to Sheikh Mohammed’s official website, the new brand logo focuses on ‘promotional aspects of the UAE as a key influencer in global economy, a nation with prestigious political status and an attractive environment, and a unique tourism and culture destination’.

The website further states: ‘The idea of the nation brand emerged from the vision of the UAE leadership to take the experience and different phases of its development to both internal and external audiences.

“Many countries use similar brands to reflect values in line with their strategic objectives’.

Many Twitter followers of Sheikh Mohammed have already been retweeting his appeal to UAE residents to come forth and vote, with only a one-time voting allowed.

Mohammed to select 5 Expo Ambassadors

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will select five individuals to be recognised as "Expo Ambassadors" as part of a national campaign, entitled "Be part of it", to officially support the UAE's bid to host the 2020 World Expo in Dubai.

Admissions to the competition start today (Sunday) until September 30, 2012, and can be submitted on the UAE Expo 2020 website or at the special "Be part of it" kiosks in leading malls across the different emirates.

Participants can enter by answering the question: Why should the UAE host the 2020 World Expo?

The five individuals will be selected by Sheikh Mohammed based on the quality of their submission and the expression of pride in the UAE, and its achievements, that highlight why it is an ideal place to host the World Expo 2020.

The "Expo Ambassadors" will have the opportunity to represent the UAE at a special reception in Paris, France, in November 2012, as guests of the Expo 2020 bid team.

Beginning soon, shortlisted entries will be uploaded to the UAE Expo 2020 website and open for public voting on an ongoing basis.

Following the conclusion of the initial shortlisting process, members of the public will again have the opportunity to cast a vote for their preferred submission prior to the final selection.

To ensure the full participation of the local and international community across all age groups a special category has been created that is open exclusively to children under the age of 13.

Winners in this category will receive similar recognition and an Expo-themed prize.
