Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has launched an app for Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 smart watches, the utility said in a media statement today. It said the move underlines its commitment to provide its services across all platforms to ease the lives of its customers.

“The Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 smart app is another channel to provide Dewa’s services to its customers. This supports the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, to make government services available anytime anywhere to achieve customer satisfaction,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dewa.

Dewa’s new app complements its main smart app, and provides a number of services and features including the sayings of Sheikh Mohammed.

It also enables customers to enquire about their bills, and learn about the different payment channels, customer service centre locations, contact details, etc.

The app supports the previous version of Galaxy Gear smart watches and can be downloaded from the Samsung Gear Manager.

“Launching this app comes at a time when Dewa is celebrating full transformation of its services into smart services. This supports its objective to deliver its services to customers anytime anywhere. Dewa’s smart app works on all platforms and devices to ensure ease of use and raises customer satisfaction. It also helps to raise customers’ adoption rates of its smart services and make the smart channels one of the main choices to complete transactions in line with Dewa’s vision to support smart transformation in the UAE and achieve the vision of the prudent leadership,” said Moza Al Akraf, Acting VP of IT and CIO at Dewa.

The Dubai water and power utility has completed smart transformation of all its services in less than a year after the smart transformation strategy was announced, enabling 24/7 access all its services over smart devices. Dewa started adopting smart technologies in 2009 which resulted in launching its smart app with more than 150 services and features, enhancing its smart completion process.
