Water ponds in Dubai lead to break downs and traffic jams

Heavy rains that lashed Dubai on Friday led to water logging in various parts of the emirate.
 
According to a report in Emarat Al Youm, several vehicles broke down causing traffic snarls.
 
One motorist, Mohammed Ali, who found it difficult to reach home, says water ponds on the streets made life difficult.
 
He urged Dubai Municipality to work on rain water drainage to avoid unpleasant incidents from recurring.
 
Residents of Mirdiff also had to wade through puddles, with some of their vehicles breaking down as water entered their cars.
 
Meanwhile, Dubai Municipality has formed teams to clear water off the streets.
 
Hussain Makki, Director, sewage networks, Dubai Municipality, said DM has formed a committee to follow up and clear water ponds at the earliest.
