Weekend accidents put 13 in hospital

Director Traffic in Dubai Police blames speeding and inattentiveness of drivers

It was another busy weekend for Dubai Traffic Police and emergency services with five accidents leaving 13 people injured. 

Director of the General Directorate of Traffic in Dubai Major General Mohamed Saif Al Zafeen, was quoted as blaming collisions due to speeding and the inattentiveness of drivers. 

In the first incident, a vehicle hit a concrete barrier on an exit on Emirates Road, leading to Garhoud. 

A tanker containing dangerous substances crashed on Al Tawaun roundabout in Ras Al Khor in Dubai. 

In the third incident a car collided with a traffic light post on the Abraj road near Shangri-La Hotel. 

On Saturday at 6.20pm, a car ran over a pedestrian behind Al Twar Center in Al Qusais. The driver, a woman, fled the scene leaving the victim lying on the ground.

Four vehicles collided with each other on Jumeirah Road due to speeding and failure to keep enough distance.

    I think Dubai police should start putting fake cameras untill they recieve the real one to replace them. Even if they won't replace them, Reckless drivers will surely won't speed up.

    Surely,expensive electronic gadgets catch speedsters BUT presence of MARKED police cars or UNIFORMED police personnel deter drivers from driving recklessly.
