What? Mega retailer's 50% off on facelift

Are you looking for a facelift or a little nip-tuck?

Plastic surgery isn’t cheap, and even the more expensive medical insurance policies don’t cover plastic surgery procedures.

However, customers of a leading retail chain in the UAE were surprised this week to receive discount vouchers of 50 per cent on plastic surgery at a UAE-based medical chain.

Carrefour supermarket customers have received discount vouchers that offer 50 per cent off on all plastic surgery procedures at a Dubai-based clinic.

The procedures listed on the voucher include liposuction, breast enlargement, facelift, tummy tuck, etc.

“The counter staff was giving out a bunch of discount coupons to customers and I too asked for one. After reading it I realised it is 50 per cent discount for plastic surgery products, which I am not looking for,” said Mohammed Rias, a customer in Carrefour Al Madina Mall, Al Qusais. “I am not going for one, but 50 per cent is an attractive discount.”

When Emirates 24|7 called the clinic, we were told that the only plastic surgeon in the clinic in Deira is now almost fully booked until the first week of May.

“Many customers have come with the discount coupon,” said a staff at the clinic.

When asked about the price of different plastic surgeries at the clinic, the staff said a consultation with a doctor would be mandatory to assess the rate. A consultation fees of Dh475 will be charged, the staff said.

“You need to consult the doctor before fixing the rates for various services,” the appointment booking staff said.

The offer is valid up to April 30, 2016.

According to cosmetic surgeons, the demand for plastic surgery in the UAE is growing.
