Emirates Ring Road is the most deadly of all roads in Dubai, according to figures for the first three quarters of this year. It accounted for 16.12% of the total number of fatal accidents.
According to the quarterly statistics of Dubai Traffic Police sent to Emirates 24|7, 20 victims lost their lives on this road from January to September 2010.
Emirates Road was on the top of most deadly list last year as well where a total of 26 victims lost their lives on it.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Zayed road was the second most deadly road in the emirate counting the death of 13 victims; followed by Dubai Bypass Road with 8 victims; Dubai Al Ain Road with 7 victims; and finally Al Khail Road with 4 victims.
On the other hand, the emirate Traffic Police registered a total of 1,905 traffic accidents in the first nine months of this year which involved 3,505 vehicles and 1,543 injuries.
A total of 124 people lost their lives on the emirate’s roads since the beginning of this year till end of September.
So far, February was the most deadly month of this year with the death toll going up to 30; followed by March where 20 deaths were recorded; then July with 14 death; and then May and August with 13 death each.
In terms of injuries, this period recorded 135 major injuries; 418 medium injuries; and 866 minor injuries.
In the same period, 978 accidents took place during the day, while 927 accidents happened at night.
