It will be the 7th Creek crossing, if the replacement of Al Shindaga Tunnel with a bridge is indeed in the pipeline.

Although it is not yet official, plans of the construction of Al Shindaga Bridge have been looming for a while, and so have tenders assigning the potential project.

Last month, a new tender was seen, giving away some details of what is on the agenda.

According to this tender, which was published on November 9, the bridge should be 300 metres long and 22 meres wide, while it has an underpass that is 15 metres high.

The tender invites for the design and construction of the bridge.

When asked, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) neither denied nor confirmed the news, stating that an announcement regarding this would soon be released.

It is to be noted that information in the tender is not definite and is subject to change.

This isn’t the first tender for the project this year. Another tender, for the project named Al Shindagha Bridge, was launched earlier this year too.

At that time, it described a 2.7km-long bridge as well as road infrastructure, including a series of interchange crossings.

Constructed in 1975, Al Shindagha Tunnel is the second oldest crossing of the five creek crossings connecting Bur Dubai and Deira.

It comprises two lanes in each direction, has a height clearance of 5 metres and speed limit of 60 km/h.

A sixth crossing will be realised with the construction of Al Ittihad Bridge, for which a tender was published on November 1 this year.
