Woman jailed for killing boyfriend in Jumeirah

A young businesswoman who killed her boyfriend in a villa in Jumeirah in 2010 has been jailed for seven years after she was diagnosed with psychological disorder, the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance ruled on Tuesday.

The forensic report submitted before the court said that she suffered disorder after being raped in early age and that her mother mistreated her.

The court on Tuesday awarded a Kazakhstani businesswoman seven years jail followed by deportation for killing her boyfriend.

According to the alignment sheet, AF, 26, stabbed YS in a villa in Jumeira on November 4, 2010. She initially told prosecutors that YS had committed suicide after a dispute between them; but later she admitted killing him and claimed that it was in self-defence.

The court records showed that prosecution subjected the accused to a psychiatrist who diagnosed her with a psychological disorder.

However, forensic department reported that the cause of death was killing, refuting that he committed suicide as the accused claimed. Furthermore, there were also wounds on the left forearm of the victim, proving that he resisted the attacker, forensic report said.

Further tests revealed that she used to consume alcohol. Despite being under the influence, she didn’t lose control over her actions.

Woman attacked by two men in Dubai

Dubai’s police arrested two Emirati men for attacking a Kenyan woman near a key hotel in the city but the two said they just reacted to her bad behavior while drunk, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The woman told police she was at the car park behind Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bur Dubai when one of the two tried to molest her, prompting her to swear at him.

She said the two then attacked her and stripped some of her clothes off but that she managed to run away and shout to passers by.

In its report, Emirat Alyoum said the two claimed they attacked the woman because she was drunk and swore at them.

Transit passenger gets 4 years for drugs, insults

A criminal court in Abu Dhabi sentenced a transit European passenger to four years in prison after he was convicted of taking drugs and insulting employees at Abu Dhabi airport, press reports said on Wednesday.

The man had arrived in Abu Dhabi airport on the way to his home country and tests showed he had taken drugs and was heavily drunk.

When he was called by an airport employee to head for his aircraft, he swore and insulted the man, newspaper said.

The court also ordered his deportation from the UAE after serving his jail term.
