The woman was rushed to UAQ hospital in critical condition but died later. The driver and her children sustained minor injuries but were

“We believe that the accident was caused after the driver apparently fell asleep as she was tired,” UAQ traffic police chief Lt Colonel Saeed bin Aran said.

Balloon mishap kills 2-year old in Saudi

An inflated kids’ balloon killed a two-year-old Saudi boy when it popped in his face while he was playing with it at his house in the Gulf kingdom.

The boy’ mother had given him the inflated balloon and went into her room to pray, leaving the child playing with the toy on his own.

“The balloon suddenly popped, causing the child to scream for air before his colour went pale and blue…his mother rushed him to a nearby clinic but he died before arrival,” the Saudi Arabic language daily Sabq said in a report from the capital Riyadh.

It quoted a doctor as saying the balloon blast blocked the child’s breathing canals and that kids below three years old must not be given such toys.
