The UAE’s top court sentenced two men to seven years in prison and ordered their deportation from the country after they were convicted of raping a woman on the first day of her arrival in the UAE.
DNA tests confirmed the two defendants had forced sex with the woman at a hotel room just after her arrival at the airport.
The Dubai-based Arabic language daily Emirat Alyoum said the two used violence to rape the woman in December 2009 after they lured her into the hotel room they had booked for that purpose.
A criminal court had sentenced the two to seven years in jail and deportation and an appeals court later gave them the same verdict.
They appealed again with the Federal Supreme Court, which upheld that sentence, the paper said, without giving further details of the case.
