Dubai resident survives Emirates plane fire, wins $1 million

Mohamed Basheer Abdul Khadar, a Dubai-based Indian national struck gold when his lucky ticket No. 0845 was drawn in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire.

A Fleet Administrator in Al Tayer Motors, Abdul Khadar made it a habit to purchase a ticket in the Millennium Millionaire Promotion whenever he travelled to India. This year, his perseverance finally paid off and Abdul Khadar became a dollar millionaire after he returned back to Dubai just few days before the Millennium Millionaire draw took place in Concourse A, Dubai International Airport.

The Indian national was also on board Emirates EK521 flight, which caught fire on landing at Dubai International Airport last week (Aug 3) on its return from Indian state of Kerala.

All the passengers and crew were safely evacuated from the flight.

The lucky winner was in shock upon hearing the news, saying: “I am blessed to have finally won with Dubai Duty Free and can’t wait to share the news with my family. If you ask me about my plans, I obviously want to help the children in Kerala who are less fortunate than others and need some financial help and medical support”.

Lady Luck shone down on Fathollah Nasrollah Shahyari, an Iranian national living in Abu Dhabi, who won a BMW 650i Gran Coupe in Series 1630 with ticket No. 1090.

Another winner yesterday was Yoshiko Tsuge, a Japanese national from Tokorozawa city, Japan, who won a Porsche Cayenne S in Series 1631 with ticket No. 0365.

It was also a special day for Pravin D. Rao, an Indian national living in Dubai, who won a red Ducati Monster 821 in Series 285 with ticket no. 0810.

The latest Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise Draw was conducted by Ramesh Cidambi, Chief Operating Officer, Dubai Duty Free, Salah Tahlak, Executive Vice President, Nic Bruwer, Executive Vice President and Michael Schmidt, Vice President – Retail Sales and Merchandising.
