Your chances of landing a job may be brighter in the UAE as a big percentage of employers in the country are struggling to find the right talent to fill up vacant roles.

According to statistics released by Monster.com, an online recruitment solutions provider, many companies in the UAE, Middle East and India are struggling to find the right skills set for their companies.

A majority (68 per cent) of the respondents who participated in the survey said it is extremely difficult or at least difficult to hire talent for niche skills (technology), leaving merely 17 per cent saying it is either not that difficult or easy to find such talent.

The survey also highlights the amount of time that is taken in the hiring process.

Around 55 per cent of the respondents in the survey say their recruitment department needs 5 – 10 man hours to hire a technology professional. To make it even more challenging 72 per cent highlighted that only 2 out of 10 of their correspondences with job seekers actually convert into hiring, resulting in the number of lost man hours that a company has to put up with.

Experts at recruitment firm, Robert Half, state the UAE employment market continues to thrive and grow as demand for specialist occupations far outweighs supply, resulting in talent shortages across the region.

Compounding hiring challenges is stronger due to employment prospects in the UK and US resulting in fewer expatriates to the region.

Morgan McKinley, another recruitment firm reveals that UAE employers are still struggling to find candidates with the requisite skills and experience in some key areas.

This can be attributed to impressive growth in neighbouring countries – Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Oman, for example – which is enticing jobseekers from Dubai, the recruiter believes. A growing level of confidence is also seeing many candidates seek new positions to further their career prospects, leading to employers scrambling for talent.

This is substantiated by online portal, Naukrigulf.com, which states demand for talent is going up as the job market improves. It says employers in the UAE and the region are faced with a talent crunch and the situation has remained unchanged in the Gulf area with majority of recruiters claiming they are faced with talent shortage.
