Dubai Grand Parade: Supercars…

Published
By Vicky Kapur

Today’s Dubai Grand Parade will feature more 600 exotic cars, and also marks a bid to secure a Guinness World Record for the largest number of car brands to feature in a parade and the longest selfie relay.

The Dubai Grand Parade will be led by Dubai Police’s fleet of supercars that will be on display for residents and visitors.

A range of entertainment activities have also been planned, which includes a specially designed Motor Village at Meydan.

The parade route (and the roads to avoid)

The super, luxury and classic cars and bikes will parade the streets of Dubai on Friday, November 28, 2014, from 3pm, commencing at Meydan and travelling through Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown Dubai to Burj Al Arab and back to Meydan.

Spectator zones

Two spectator fan zones along the route will enable residents and tourists to get a glance of the parade as well as enjoy photo opportunities and a host of entertainment. The Dubai Grand Parade starts at 3pm on Friday, November 28.

The parade will pass the first spectator zone at Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard at Downtown Dubai at 3.30pm.

The cars will then move on and are expected to pass the second spectator zone at Madinat Jumeirah on Beach Road at 3.45pm.

How to get there

Meydan is located in Meydan City, off Al Khail Road, and between Business Bay and Nad Al Sheba. If you’re driving your car, organisers assure that there will be plenty of parking at Meydan. You’d do well to follow the signs for visitors, and there will Traffic Marshalls at hand to direct the visitors’ vehicles. Those coming via Nad Al Sheba Road and Oud Metha should enter through North Gate 1. Those driving from Al Khail & Al Meydan Road should take the North Gate 2 entrance.

Guinness World Record Attempts

Dubai is all set to add to its tally of world records at the Dubai Grand Parade for:

· A new record attempt for the most number of car brands to feature in a parade (this will take place at 10am @ Meydan)

· The longest Selfie Relay (#longestselfierelay) will take place from 5pm.

The world's longest selfie relay will see hundreds of participating spectators lining up at Meydan from 4pm. The relay will kick off with the participant at the head of the line striking a pose alongside the person standing beside him/her, who then clicks a picture of his own with the next participant to trigger a chain of selfies all the way down the line until a new mark is set.

· New Record Attempt for the most Car Brands in a Parade. The organisers are aiming to beat 50 car brands in one motorcade.

Motor Village

A specially-designed Motor Village will see Meydan transform into a world of motorsport entertainment as it plays host to an elaborate line-up of activities ranging from the world’s first car lighting show by Infiniti to the pulsating excitement of the Dubai International Rally Championship.

The Village will also feature an F1 Driver Experience, where you can get in pole position with a dynamic, simulated, virtual racing experience in real time.

Keeping spectators on the edge of their seats will be the Red Bull Car Park Drift Grand Final where racers from all over the country will match wits and skills as they compete for the coveted ‘King of Drift’ title with stunning displays of high-speed drifting manoeuvers, steering, braking and power sliding techniques.

The family-friendly schedule also includes a Dubizzle-sponsored automotive marketplace, creating a fun day out for residents, families and tourists to enjoy activities, experience motoring, learn about motoring safety and be able to view up close some of the most exclusive motoring brands.

The Motor Village will also host dedicated events celebrating the UAE’s 43rd National Day.

Inspired Light

A unique event will be that, for the first time, a ‘painting by light’ show will be performed exclusively by cars, in this case the Infiniti QX70S Elite.

Stunt Artists Performance

Stunt bike riders Shadi Al Daheri and Hollandi will be performing at the Motor Village.
