Youth escape death after speeding car turns turtle in RAK

Two young Emiratis were injured in a car accident when their car over-turned on one of the roads in Ras Al Khaimah.

Colonel Ali Saeed Al Alkaim, Director, Traffic and Patrol Police at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the two Emirati youth, aged 19 and 20, were driving at a high-speed which led to the car turning turtle.

As a result of the excessive speed the driver couldn’t control the car, which caused it to hit the pavement and turned upside down.

He added that police patrols accompanied by the ambulances and rescue team rushed immediately to the site of the accident where the injured were moved to hospital for treatment.

The police have referred the case to the competent authorities to complete the rest of the necessary procedures.

Overloaded vehicle tips over, 9 hurt

Another accident occurred on Al Sa’aedi road of Ras Al Khaimah when a small vehicle (pick-up) tipped over when the driver was taking a roundabout due to excess load of passengers in the car vehicle.

Nine persons, all of Asian nationality, were injured, while fled the driver fled from the accident site.

The police arrested him in less than an hour after the mishap.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Department of Traffic and Patrols has called on all motorists and road users to adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
