Emirati reported missing in India

A 19-year-old Emirati has gone missing in India while on a treatment trip with his father and officials ruled out any criminal act in the incident. 

His father told Indian police that Khalid Ismail disappeared in Bangalore on October 12 and that police have mounted an extensive search campaign in the area. 

“He left his residence in Bangalore and has not returned yet…his father reported him missing to the Indian police,” said Issa Masoud Al Kalbani, director of the Emiratis affairs department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Quoted by Emirat Alyoum Arabic language daily, he said the Ministry has contacted the UAE consulate in Mumbay as well as the Indian media, adding that a photograph of the missing man has been published there. 

“We don’t believe there is a criminal act behind Khalid’s disappearance…perhaps he got lost and the delay in finding him is because of his health condition,” he said.’ 

It was the second such incident in India in four months. In July, Saleh al Abdouli, a 46-year-old Emirati, vanished in Hyderabad for two weeks after he lost his way back before he was found by the police.
