Explosion at Argentine supermarket kills 2; injures 12

An explosion at a supermarket has killed at least two people and injured 12 others in Argentina, emergency services officials said Tuesday.

Buenos Aires provincial emergency services director Patricia Spinelli told the Todo Noticias channel that other people could be trapped in the debris following Tuesday's blast.

Fire Department operations chief Daniel Bodego said the cause of the blast in Virrey del Pino is still under investigation. But he said gas cylinders were being stored near the market.

Officials evacuated the block around the market.

Virrey del Pino is about 25 miles (40 kilometers) southwest of Buenos Aires city.
