A vehicle has caught fire on Amman Street, with reports of traffic backing up and congestion on neighbouring Beirut and Oman streets.

Meanwhile, a four-car accident near fourth interchange has caused accidents at the Umm Sequim exit, causing slow moving traffic in the area, which is backing up according to reports.

Dubai Police told Emirates 24|7 that an alternate for drivers stuck near Amman Street is: “There is an intersection before Lulu Hypermarket you can turn left and enter into sub streets from there.”

There are also reports of slow moving traffic from Al Ain highway, connecting on to Al Khail Road, near Dubai Academic City. But no reports have come of the cause of the jams.

Around 8am, Dubai Police confirmed the vehicle fire, stating: “A vehicle is on fire due to an accident on Amman Street in the direction of the workers bridge towards the Beirut Street intersection with Oman Street. Please exercise caution.”

Civil Defence is reportedly on the scene, battling the blaze, but part of Amman Street has closed to traffic due to this, causing snarls, according to eye witnesses.

Drivers are cautioned to avoid the road and opt for alternatives.

The police are also on the scene of the Umm Sequim turn off from Sheikh Zayed Road, according to reports, but drivers are told to brace for slow moving traffic.
