Fujairah diver vanishes after going into water

A man getting diving lessons in Fujairah went into the water without telling his instructors but never turned up again. After several days of an extensive search operation, police decided the man was dead.

The manager of the diving lessons company and his aide were both blamed for the disappearance of that man after they failed to prevent him from going to the sea during turbulent weather conditions.

A court in the eastern UAE emirate found the two guilty and sentenced them to two months in prison, ordered them to pay diya (blood money) to the victim’s relatives and fined them Dh1,000 for negligence.

“Police had mounted a massive search operation for the diver…a few days later, they gave up the operation after they could not find the body,” Al Khaleej daily said.
