Police on Monday arrested three men who stole at least 10 cars and smuggled them outside the country.

The gang included a father-son duo along with another Arab national. They stole the vehicles and exported them with forged papers.

Two smugglers have been identified as MYM and FS and the third suspect is FS' son. They used to steal the cars and smuggle it to the country where FS' son lived.

The suspects used counterfeit papers made in a neighbouring country to export the stolen cars and cross the border.

FS' son would receive the stolen cars in his country and sell them.

FS would prepare the papers and hand it over to MYM who would smuggle the vehicles outside through one of the UAE ports.

The gang’s activities came to light when a person lodged a complaint with the Industrial Area police station that a Toyota Camry car belonging to his company was stolen after he parked it in front of a shop.
“A security team was immediately formed by the Criminal Investigation Department. Subsequent investigation showed that the car was exported to a neighbouring country with forged papers of that country. It was also found out that other nine cars were exported in the same way using forged export papers,” the officer said.

The Sharjah police traced MYM who was arrested from another emirate. After being arrested MYM confessed to the stealing with FS' help who resides in the UAE, and the latter’s son who received the cars in the other country.

Both FS and MYM are currently detained and will be referred to the public prosecution.

FS' son will he summoned to the country through authorised channels.
