Gitex ends with price-cut frenzy: BlackBerry Z10 @ Dh600

As the clock counted down on Saturday, the last day of Gitex Shopper’s Spring edition, crowds turned up at Dubai World Trade Centre.

By 5pm, there was hardly any place to move as retailers began bombarding hourly flash sales and special last-day discounts.

Some products were down by almost 50 per cent.

Most notable were the BlackBerry devices. A major retailer was offering two BlackBerry Z10 phones for  Dh1,199. Other retailers had priced the Z10 at Dh699 each.

The price of the more popular BlackBerry Q10 was down to Dh1,299, while the Q5 was at Dh699.

The LG G2 is going for Dh1,699.

The price of Lenovo Vibe X too dropped to Dh999 and some retailers said they had already run out of stocks.

Nokia X, with Etisalat postpaid connection, was up for grabs for just Dh99. As part of the last-day promo, you could get a 10GB monthly data plan for free as well.

"Among the Nokia models the X has been selling much faster than the others," a Nokia retail staffer said.

The company is offering a Chevrolet as a gift to one winner from among those who purchased a Nokia product worth Dh300 or more.
