Mohammed directs federal government to adopt 'Government Creativity Lab'

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice-President, Prime Minster of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has directed all federal government bodies to adopt the "Government Creativity Lab" experiment as an official and standardized practice aims to develop government services, overcome practical challenges and enhance performance and competency of government administrative procedures.

Sheikh Mohammed's directives followed the outstanding success of the first trial of the "Government Creativity Lab" during the UAE Cabinet Retreat held recent at Sir Bani Yas. The lab discussed ideas and suggestions received from experts, officials and professionals via #uaebrainstorm to produce immediate solutions for the challenges hindering education and healthcare sectors in the UAE.

Sheikh Mohammed has directed Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education to hold government creativity labs regularly on the ministry's level to face any practical or administrative challenges in the field and to engage all stakeholders, including officials, employees and specialists, to develop instant solutions.

Government creativity labs compromise specialized workshops that discuss current reality of any challenge initiating from a scientific approach that looks objectively into statistics and facts followed by brainstorming sessions to produce original and unconventional solutions. After the brainstorming sessions, decision takers and senior officials shall meet to approve the agreed ideas and solutions and drafting those outcomes in a final and applicable plan. The lab may proceed for several days until all parties completely agree on the solutions and responsibilities to go to the execution phase. This procedure will increase the speed of government response for any changes or practical challenges and bypass the full cycle of the strategic and operational plans.

Moreover, Sheikh Mohammed has directed the team of the Prime Minister's office to prepare a comprehensive guidebook that illustrates the government creativity labs and best practices to utilize this tool in the best way possible. Once issued, this guidebook will be circulated to all government bodies to use it as an approved and standardized practice for the federal government.
