Another World First: Dubai Government to showcase achievements this week

In line with the vision and under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP), the Secretariat General of the Dubai Executive Council, will be holding the ‘Government of Dubai's Achievements’ exhibition under the theme “Local Government and Global Achievements” from April 8 to 10, 2014.

The show, to be held in coordination with Ministry of Economy, coincides with the 4th edition of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM 2014), the leading regional event, which this year focuses on promoting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and effective ways to attract investors to various economic sectors in the UAE and the Gulf.

To be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, the world’s one-of-a-kind exhibition is a pioneering government initiative that has attracted participation of Dubai government departments and institutions to showcase their achievements, practical initiatives, development projects and services. This exhibition is in line with the implementation of UAE Vision 2021 with regards to excellence at the international level.

The Government of Dubai's Achievements Exhibition is sponsored by the Dubai Municipality and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa). Several other government departments in Dubai will also participate - including the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM); Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department (DNRD); Dubai Police; Dubai Courts; Dubai Public Prosecution (DPP); as well as Roads and Transport Authority (RTA); Dubai Economic Council (DEC); International City for Humanitarian Services, and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment.

Abdullah Al Shibani, Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council, and chairman of DGEP, said: “The Government of Dubai's Achievements Exhibition is organised in line with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed offering an ideal platform for government bodies to collaborate and share expertise by displaying their emerging projects, initiatives and customer services.”

“The aim of this exhibition is to highlight the strides made by the Government of Dubai in all sectors to provide a better life to the community. We are proud to say this exhibition will successfully showcase to the local and international community the achievements of Dubai government departments and strengthen the partnership between government agencies as well as create new development opportunities performance upgrade. It will also encourage adoption of best practices at both institutional and individual levels as well as achieving the institutional knowledge management at the level of Dubai government,” Al Shibani added.

Ahmed Nuseirat, Coordinator General, DGEP, added: “We at DGEP seek to upgrade the performance of the government departments by raising awareness of a culture of excellence, innovation and quality, while at the same time introducing best management practices and ensuring that proven work processes are adopted in the government sector.”

Nuseirat added that this show will help accelerate the implementation of strategic plans of Dubai in the run-up to Expo 2020, as the success of Expo is linked to collaboration of government departments and high levels of innovation in providing government services upgrading infrastructure and ensuring sustainable development.

Moreover, many topics will be discussed on the sidelines of the exhibition such as new dynamic government approach to public services.”

This is the second edition of the event. The inaugural edition held in 2012 was inaugurated by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
