FNC is channel to people: Mohammed

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said the government counted on the Federal National Council (FNC) to convey concerns of citizens to it.

Addressing speaker and members of the FNC last evening at Zabeel Palace, Sheikh Mohammed said :''It's true that our doors are always wide open to citizens to express their views and requirements, but we really depend on you - as FNC members and representative of the people and as part of people - to communicate to us opinions of citizens and probe their concerns during your field visits to various part of the country.''

Sheikh Mohammed exchanged Ramadan greetings with FNC Speaker Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, and other members in attendance of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

The Vice-President shared with the FNC speaker and members views on a variety of national and societal issues and praised their achievements.

The mandate of the FNC speaker and members, he said, is primarily focused on serving the nation and its citizens given their status as representatives of people and a channel of communication between the citizen and leadership.

''Let me tell you that we all - leadership, government and FNC - working as one team for serving and developing our beloved State at all levels and domains in order to bring about happiness to our citizens across this glorious country,'' Sheikh Mohammed said.

''Today we are living in a stable, prosperous State thanks to Allah, dedication of our founding fathers and energies of men and women of our country's good people, whom we harbour for them deep affection, loyalty and pride for reaching advanced levels of scientific, technological, cultural and administrative progress which make our State a leader and role model in all walks of life, particularly in human development, which we are proud to be a pioneer in sectors like management, planning, tourism and investment among others.'' Sheikh Mohammed lauded the existing cooperation and coordination between the government and the house in a variety of issues, mainly those dealing with delivery of best services to citizens and residents alike and provision of all factors for comfort, dignity and decent life for every individual in UAE community.

Speaking on behalf of FNC members Sultan bin Rashid Al Dhaheri paid gratitude to the wise leadership for empowering the house so as to deliver its national message towards the homeland and its people. He noted that the generous leadership since the era of the late founding fathers (Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum) had spared no efforts to enable citizens live in security, social, economic and political stability.

Today, he added, the UAE leadership, spearheaded by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Their Highnesses Rulers of Emirates and General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, are staying the course of the founding fathers.

Sheikh Mohammed hosted an iftar banquet for his guests, which also attended by a number of sheikhs, ministers and senior officials.

Mohammed promotes over 900 DNRD personnel

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the promotion of 676 military personnel and 234 civil servants of Dubai General Directorate for Residency and Foreigners Affairs (DNRD).

The promotions were ordered by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed as an honour for the young leaders to encourage them to pursue excellence and use their full potential in the service of their country.

Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the Dubai General Department for Residency and Foreigners Affairs, on behalf of the promoted personnel, thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and reiterated their allegiance to the leadership of the country.
