GCC leaders working hard for prosperity: Mohammed

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received today at Zabeel Palace Dr. Abdul-Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Secretary General of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), in the attendance of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

Al Zayani was accompanied by Khalil Al Khonji, President of the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry and delegations of GCC Chambers participating in the 40th meeting of the Federation hosted by Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Mohammed was briefed by Al Zayani and Al Khonji on agenda of the meeting and other topics related to implementation of GCC leaders' instructions for maximum degree of economic and commercial coordination and integration among member states towards realisation of aspirations of their peoples.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed any step towards delivery of these higher national objectives, emphasising the need for providing facilities to businessmen and traders in member states to enable them maintain regular contacts away from routine which hampers inter-GCC trade and economic openness especially at the private sector level.

Such openness, he asserted, would ultimately serve interests of ''our national economies'' so as to build a competitive regional economic powerhouse to be reckoned with globally and achieve living welfare and stability and this is what we, as leaders in the GCC, are diligently toiling to deliver.

The GCC chief commended the UAE model of economic openness and pro-business facilities the UAE government offers to businessmen and investors, establishing itself as an attractive global trade and business destination for major world companies.

The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Sheikh Majed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Mohammed Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, and a number of top officials.

Mohammed issues law setting up Dubai Establishment for Aviation Engineering Projects

Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, has issued a law setting up Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects Establishment.

The new entity, with juridical personality and financial and administrative independence, will work to achieve its goals and will be attached to the Dubai Aviation City Corporation.

And Article V of the law defines the goals of the Establishment that aims to strengthen the position of the emirate in the field of planning, designing and building airports and their amenities, as well as attracting local and foreign investments to the field.

The terms of reference of the Establishment include: provision of engineering solutions and technical resources required for the development of existing airports in the emirate to improve the quality of its service in coordination with the concerned authorities and the preparation of studies, designs and engineering plans for airports in the emirate and outside.

Article Six of the law stipulates that the chairman of the Dubai Aviation City Corporation will exercise the duty of the general supervision of the Establishment including ratification of its general policy, strategic plans and programmes.
