Gen. Mohamed attends seminar

General Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday attended a discussion session themed ‘Every Last Child - Eradicating Polio’ at his Ramadan majlis.

The seminar examined international and UAE efforts to combat polio across the world and particularly in Pakistan.

The event was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah; Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah; Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation; Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister; Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Pilot Staff-Brigadier Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National and Reserve Service Authority; a number of ministers, ambassadors, editors-in chief of a number of local newspapers and journalists.

Abdullah Khalifa Al Ghafli, Director of UAE Project to Assist Pakistan (PAP), disclosed the successful results of the second phase of the Emirates Polio Campaign in Pakistan, with the implementation of the directives of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aimed to provide humanitarian and development aid.

The support to the health sector and its preventive programmes in Pakistan came in the light of the initiative of General Mohamed to eradicate polio across the world.

He added that final successful results were successful through immunisation of millions of Pakistani children with more than 73.2 million polio vaccines from January to May 2015.

He reiterated that success of the humanitarian efforts and initiatives, which came in implementation of the directives of the wise leadership of Sheikh Khalifa, proves to the whole world that the UAE's efforts are effective and distinguished. He added these efforts and initiatives are aimed at enhancing human health and societies as well as achieving their humanitarian objectives.

He also highlighted that the initiative of General Mohamed is aimed at eradicating polio in the most difficult areas across the world.
