General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, on Tuesday chaired the executive council's meeting at the Crown Prince Court.

At the meeting, the council reviewed the developments in public work and the ongoing and future projects, as well as the major achievements and service initiatives for nationals and expatriates.

As he reviewed the programme and proposed mechanisms of Abu Dhabi Award for Excellence in Government Performance, General Mohamed urged government departments to keep up their work, further consolidate the regional and global outstanding stature of the UAE, enhance corporate and individual performance and take interest in achieving excellence a major element in government work.

General Mohammed emphasised that the government of Abu Dhabi seeks to achieve better institutional performance to keep pace with the process of development and realise Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 to support the UAE's stature.

The executive council approved the healthcare sector strategy aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services in the emirate in line with the highest international standards through 85 initiatives that Abu Dhabi Health Services (Seha) has launched to develop Abu Dhabi's healthcare sector.

The strategy incorporates the following seven priorities: integrated and continuous healthcare for all individuals; elevating the quality of healthcare services; safety standards; patient's experience; attracting, training and retaining qualified people for the healthcare sector; preparedness for emergencies; embracing the public health methodology; sustainability of health spending; integrated IT systems and electronic health data.

The strategy also provides for governance as a key factor in ensuring the success of healthcare development plans that are based on building capabilities and competence to improve the performance of the healthcare sector, training the basic workforce and developing mechanisms to ensure compatibility with the sector's strategy.

The executive council also approved a strategy for emergency preparedness that is based on initiatives for the healthcare sector, as well as on coordination with other sectors. These initiatives involve planning emergency preparedness, governance, material infrastructure, information technology, workforce, policies, standards of emergency preparedness.

 A budget of Dh120 million was earmarked for the implementation of the strategy.

Abu Dhabi government's health spending in 2013 went well over Dh18 billion, excluding capital spending, which reflects Abu Dhabi's keen interest in consolidating the foundations of healthcare system and strategy which encompasses improving quality, delivery of treatment and preventive services that comply with the highest international standards.

Also, at today's meeting, the executive council approved Dh2.4bn worth of housing loans for 1,200 Emiratis in the three areas of the emirate.

The approval of the new tranche of loans will fulfill the needs of Emiratis in Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain City and Al Gharbia (Western Region) and will cover construction, or completing new housing units.

The loan amount for each case in Abu Dhabi is Dh2 million and it is to be paid back in interest-free monthly instalments. In addition, any beneficiary will be exempted from paying back 25 per cent of the loan amount upon completing the construction of his house, and will also be eligible for one-time exemption from a determined amount if he pays off the loan early. Other facilities are also offered to loan recipients keeping in mind their interests.

General Mohamed also viewed the half-year accountancy report for the Abu Dhabi government departments that includes the results of financial auditing, as well as reviewing performance and risks. The head of Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority updated General Mohamed on the contents of the report. 

The periodic reports support the principles of accountability and transparency upheld by the government of the emirate of Abu Dhabi and its departments, and verifies their effectiveness and efficiency of their use of resources in line with the emirate's all-encompassing vision.
 
Gen. Mohamed pays respect on death of Sheikha Fatima Al Muhairi


General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Tuesday offered condolences to Mohammed Obaid bin Rashid Al Muhairi and his sons on the death of his Sheikha Fatima, who is mother of Sheikha Salama bint Zayed Al Nahyan.

General Mohamed offered condolences at the deceased residence at Al Muwaiji Area, Al Ain.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, also offered condolences to the family of the deceased.

General Mohamed extended his heartfelt condolences, praying to the Almighty to rest to her soul in peace and bestow solace and patience on her family.
