Gen. Mohamed receives top China official

General Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Sunday received Zhao Leji, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the CPC Organisation Department, at Qasr Al Shatea Palace, Abu Dhabi.

General Mohamed welcomed Leji and the members of his delegation before they discussed ties of friendship and cooperation between the UAE and China and ways of promoting and enhancing these ties to serve common interests of the two friendly countries and their peoples.

Zhao Leji conveyed regards of the Chinese leadership for the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and their best wishes for further progress and prosperity for the UAE and its people.

He hailed the keen interest that the UAE leadership takes to support and develop the existing strategic relations with China based on the principles of friendship, cooperation, mutual respect and common interests.

During the meeting, the two parties explored areas of cooperation in the political, economic and developmental domains in addition to important ideas that support bilateral action and using the potential of both countries for developing joint developmental programmes and projects based on the keenness of their leaders to promote these relations in all spheres.

The two parties also discussed a number of economic matters and the importance of forging beneficial partnerships aimed at furthering nation building and development of the states and peoples.

They also discussed the importance of the Silk Road and related developmental projects as a vital bridge between China and this region that will boost cooperation, understanding, trade, and cultural and civilisational interaction.

The Crown Prince emphasised that the strategic relationship between the UAE and China is excellent and was established by the founding father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

He added that this relationship is developing, thanks to the keenness and support of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Gen. Mohamed also emphasised that China plays a central and vital role through its international effective presence. He expressed the hope that China will continue its strong efforts in cooperation with the international community to address many security, political and economic issues that are important for the security and stability of this region.

Gen. Mohamed requested the Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee to convey the regards of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Chinese leadership along with his best wishes for further progress and prosperity for China and its people in all spheres.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues and matters of mutual concern.

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority (EAA); Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouie, Undersecretary of the Crown Prince's Court; Lt. General Juma Ahmed Al Bawardi Al Falasi, Adviser to Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Force, and China's Ambassador to the UAE, Chang Hua, attended the meeting.

Receives French defence minister

General Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Sunday received French Defence Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, and his accompanying delegation at Al Mamoura, Abu Dhabi.

The Crown Prince and the French defence minister discussed bilateral relations and ways of promoting and developing them to serve the strategic interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

The two parties explored mutual military and defence cooperation and the level of coordination on operations, training and expertise exchange as part of the keen interest of the leaders of the two countries in advancing  friendship, cooperation and relations to wider avenues.

They also discussed a number of regional and international issued relating to countering violence and terrorism, Iran's nuclear issue and Operation Restoring Hope in Yemen.

Gen. Mohamed and Le Drian also discussed matters of mutual concern and the latest regional and international developments.

Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority (EAA); Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouie, Undersecretary of the Crown Prince's Court; Major General Lt. General Juma Ahmed Al Bawardi Al Falasi, Advisor to Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Force; Homaid Al Shemmari, Chief Executive Officer, Aerospace and Engineering Services at Mubadala, as well as Ambassador of France to the UAE, Michel Miraillet, attended the meeting.
