Guide country from better to best, Mohamed tells youth

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received a number of students in the 'UAE Youth Ambassadors' Programme', at Al Bahr Palace.


Students briefed Sheikh Mohamed about the activities during their scientific trips abroad and the feedback of those experiences.


A total of 122 students, representing number of UAE universities, completed the UAE Youth Ambassadors' Programmes for 2014 and 2015. 


Sheikh Mohamed exchanged views with students, stressing that the state takes interest in them to achieve more progress.

"There are huge challenges, but those who seek success look forward to better future. Therefore, we have to be positive and learn from lessons and experiences of others through benefitting from the best examples to effect changes," the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi said.

He added that "Those who want to build a state or nation should be positive and look forward with optimism and confidence. We, in the UAE look beyond 25 years and 50 years. We are looking at you to guide the country from better to the best."

He noted that the UAE is currently experiencing progress, safety, security and stability that sees it receiving millions of tourists every year, adding, "This will not stop us from working more to provide better education for the next generations based on the concepts of expertise, innovation and creativity to reach advanced levels of greatness and sophistication."

Sheikh Mohamed wished them success in their educational career through excellence, creativity and innovation.

The UAE Youth Ambassadors' Programme was launched in 2012, with the aim of preparing young Emirati citizens to assume prominent positions in strategic sectors, and strengthen ties between the UAE and countries of strategic importance.

The total number of participants in this programme since its inception was 174 – both males and females.

A new "Advanced Programme" that includes advanced studies in languages, and functional training in major companies, has been launched. It also includes in-depth discussions with experts in the government and industrial sectors as well as independent research papers.

The advanced programme aims to enhance the understanding of the youth ambassadors of bilateral relations between the UAE and a host of countries through independent research projects.

The participants in this programme said it has many scientific, practical and cultural benefits, and provides access to the global experiences and models of success. They added that the programme has boosted their capabilities, scientific and practical skills, and earned them the experiences and practices that would help them carry out tasks and responsibilities to serve the country.

The student ambassadors said the programme has availed them an opportunity to introduce the UAE identity and culture to upgrade relations of friendship and co-operation between the people of the UAE and the peoples of those countries based on mutual respect and common interest. 

Receives UAE National Jiu Jitsu team

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has received players of the UAE National Jiu Jitsu team, which won the World Jiu Jitsu Championship in Thailand, at Al Bahr Palace in Abu Dhabi.

The team was led by Abdul Moneim Al Hashemi, Chairman of UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation. Sheikh Mohamed congratulated the players on the sports trophy and wished them further good luck and accomplishments in the coming international championships.

Sheikh Mohamed expressed his happiness at the high performance and skills of the Emirati players, as well as their speed for acquiring experiences.

He added, ''Your outstanding performance and excellence should be a stimulus to continue tireless work and exert more efforts to achieve the best."

In a related context, player Faisal Al Ketbi has won the gold medal in the weight above 90 kg in the championship held recently in Thailand, and Zayed Al Ka'abi clinched the silver medal, while Khalfan Belhool won the silver medal in the weight under 85 kg.

The players expressed their happiness at meeting Sheikh Mohamed, praising his support for the game.

Al Hashemi also extended thanks and appreciation for The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, expressing that meeting him was more precious than winning the championship.
