Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, felicitated Canadian Specialist Hospital (CSH), one of the largest private hospitals in Dubai catering to the tertiary healthcare needs of the Middle East, for achieving the prestigious Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, along with the other private and public healthcare facilities who have achieved international accreditations in 2011.

The award was received by Hussein Anani, Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Shoaib Shahzad Khan, Head of Paediatrics and Dalal Darabseh, Nursing Director, on behalf of Canadian Specialist Hospital.

The move is in line with the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 and the Dubai Health Strategy 2011-2013 to encourage the health sector in the Emirate to seek international accreditations so as to ensure that they go beyond the basic levels necessary for safe and effective care.

JCI has been working with health care organizations, ministries of health, and global organizations in over 80 countries since 1994. It focuses on improving the safety of patient care through the provision of accreditation and certification services as well as through advisory and educational services aimed at helping organizations implement practical and sustainable solutions. An international committee of health care experts makes the accreditation decisions.
