Commenting on the announcement, Sheikh Hamdan said, ''Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision to transform Dubai into a world smart city has placed us at the heart of the IoT, a new, large-scale, rapid economy, where the city and its utilities is well connected with people, devices and data under one system to reduce costs and make life more easier and services at the reach of all.

“Value of business opportunities generated by this new economy is estimated to cross $19 trillion in the next nine years.''

''We will seek to establish Dubai as an international research centre on this new economic sector and as world model of the IoT,'' he added.

According to Cisco, Internet of Things (IoT) is estimated to create $19 trillion in economic benefit and value over the next decade.

IoT will change the way of millions of lives and the accelerated progress for IoT and technology trends project that 50 billion smart devices and government data and operations will be connected to the internet by 2020, ushering the world into the age of 'Internet of Objects' and a new world economy.
