UAE and Omani leaders on Monday praised bonds of brotherhood and friendship linking their peoples as strong and solid and underscored their commitment to leverage these relations so as to meet aspirations of the two peoples for integration and cooperation.

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed of Oman, held talks at Al Rawdha Palace in Al Ain over ways of further strengthening distinguished bilateral ties.

During the talks, which were attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the two leaders exchanged views on the latest Gulf, Arab and international developments and topics of mutual concern.

As he welcomed the Omani leader to the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa said his visit to his second home is a source of pride for the people of UAE and signals an important leverage for further consolidating bonds of brotherhood and friendship.

"The UAE harbours profound respect and esteem to the leadership and people of Oman," the UAE President said, wishing Oman more progress and prosperity under the leadership of Sultan Qaboos.

Highlighting the depth and strength of the close, historic ties, Sheikh Khalifa said the spirit of joint cooperation and coordination prevails in all fields.

Sheikh Khalifa said the Omani leader's visit demonstrates the ideal model of close cooperation between the GCC member states for serving mutual interests, securing decent life and delivering prosperity to their peoples.

For his turn, Sultan Qaboos said he was delighted at visiting the UAE and meeting with its leader, President Sheikh Khalifa.

He said the UAE-Oman ties would see steady progress in the coming period thanks to Sheikh Khalifa's determination to cementing these relations and leveraging them to new heights of joint cooperation for the best interest of the two countries and their peoples.

Later, Sheikh Khalifa hosted a luncheon in honour of Sultan Qaboos and his accompanying delegation.

Earlier, upon arrival at Al Ain International Airport, Sultan Qaboos was received by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Gen Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.

Present on the occasion were Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler`s Representative in the Eastern Region, Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor, Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and head of honour mission accompanying the guest, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs, UAE Ambassador to Oman, Mohammed Ali Al Osaimi, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al Qatabi, Oman's Ambassador to the UAE.

Sultan Qaboos is accompanied by Minister of Diwan of Royal Court Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Secretary-General of the Royal Court Affairs Maj Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Namani, Minister of Interior Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Economic Planning Advisor to His Majesty Al Sultan Mohammed bin Al Zubair, and Minister of Oil and Gas Dr Mohammed bin Hamad Al Ramahi.
