Mohamed arrives in Riyadh for summit

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, today (Wednesday) arrived in Riyadh to participate in today's summit between GCC leaders and Morocco, with the attendance of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, and the GCC leaders and President Barack Obama of the United States summit on Thursday.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed was received at King Salman Air Force Base Airport by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia.

He was also received by Saudi Crown Prince and Deputy Premier and Interior Minister, Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Premier, and Minister of Defence, Prince Mohammed bin Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh region, along with a number of senior officials.

During a brief session, Sheikh Mohamed exchanged cordial greetings with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and discussed brotherly and strategic relations between the two brotherly countries and ways of enhancing them to serve the common interests.

Sheikh Mohamed conveyed the greetings of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to his brother, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, wishing the Saudi people continuous progress and prosperity.

During the meeting, the Saudi King asked Sheikh Mohamed to also convey his greetings to the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa, wishing the UAE more prosperity, progress and development.

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince is accompanied by a delegation which includes Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Security Council, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority (EAA), Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the US, Mohammed Saeed Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Crown Prince's Court of Abu Dhabi.

Sheikh Mohamed will leave for Riyadh today.

Mohamed, US secretary discuss counter-terrorism efforts

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, held talks today (Tuesday) at Al Shatea Palace with visiting Secretary of Defence, Ashton Carter, centred on efforts being exerted by the international community to counter terrorism, violence and terrorist groups as well as international co-ordination and co-operation to support these efforts.

The contribution of the UAE and US to advance these efforts so as to eradicate the scourge of terrorism and its criminal organisations that threaten security and stability of the region were also touched upon during the talks. Also discussed were ways of further solidifying bilateral ties, notably joint co-operation in defence and military fields.

Sheikh Mohamed and Secretary Carter discussed joint co-operation and co-ordination in a variety of issues that consolidate security, stability and peace and the approaches of the two countries towards them.

The two sides exchanged views on a broad range of regional and international developments of mutual concern.

Present at the meeting were Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority (EAA), Lt. General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Lt. General Juma Ahmed Al Bowardi Al Falasi, Adviser to Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces,Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States, Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Mazrouie, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court.

Barbara A. Leaf, the US Ambassador to the UAE, also attended the meeting.
