Mohamed bin Zayed receives Juan Carlos

General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday at Emirates Palace received King Juan Carlos of Spain who is in UAE on a three-day official visit.

Welcoming King Juan Carlos, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed described the visit as important for the deep relations between the two countries as their leaderships look forward to pushing these relations to wider horizons and to forging distinguished and effective partnerships in the service of the common interests of the two countries and their peoples.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of supporting and promoting bilateral cooperation relations between UAE and Spain in the various political, economic, trade and cultural  spheres, as well as the importance of making more efforts to promote their cooperation and develop their current partnerships.

They also discussed matters of common interest to the two countries, the development of economic and investment relations and joint projects and programmes in order to bolster economic cooperation and further progress and prosperity of the two countries.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi said, "As we welcome Your Majesty's visit to UAE, we all look forward to further bilateral action towards opening wider horizons and achieving the aspirations of our countries and peoples."

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed stressed on the importance of increasing contact between the government and private organisations of both countries in order to benefit from the experiences and capabilities in implementing development projects.

On his part, King Juan Carlos expressed his delight at visiting UAE which has achieved a prominent international reputation in several spheres. He noted his country's desire to boost its bilateral relations with UAE and to benefit from the dynamism and vividness of its economy.

The Spanish King also noted that this visit in part of Spain's prioritisation of its support to economic and trade relations with UAE and of pushing the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The two sides emphasised that the next stage will see further cooperation in all spheres, exchange of ideas and visits, wider economic relations as well as the opening of opportunities for investors to contribute to the joint projects and initiatives which serve the aspirations of both countries.

Later, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed hosted a lunch banquet in honour of King Juan Carlos and members of his entourage.

Present at the meeting and the banquet were  Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Transport Department and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, Ahmed Juma Al Za'abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs, Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Undersecretary of the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and UAE Ambassador to Spain, Dr. Hessa Abdullah Al Otaiba.

From the Spanish side, Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo y Marfil, Foreign Affairs & Cooperation, Pedro Morenes Eulate, Minister of Defense, Jose Manuel Soria, Minister of Industry, Energy, & Tourism, Ana Pastor Julian, Minister of Transport & Development, Jaime Garcia-Legaz, Secretary of State for Trade, Rafael Catala Polo, Secretary of State for Planning and Infrastructure and a number of representatives of major Spanish companies were present at the meeting and banquet.

General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and visiting  King Juan Carlos of Spain on Monday at Emirates Palace witnessed the signing ceremony of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between UAE and Spain, one on the establishment of the UAE-Spanish Joint Commission for Cooperation and the other on cultural cooperation between the two countries.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Foreign Minister, and Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo y Marfil, Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs & Cooperation, signed the two MoUs.

Present at the signing ceremony of the two MoUs were Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Transport Department and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, Ahmed Juma Al Za'abi, Deputy Minister for Presidential Affairs, Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Undersecretary of the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and UAE Ambassador to Spain, Dr. Hessa Abdullah Al Otaiba, from the UAE side, and  Pedro Morenes Eulate, Minister of Defence, Jose Manuel Soria, Minister of Industry, Energy & Tourism, Jaime Garcia-Legaz, Secretary of State for Trade, Rafael Catala Polo, Secretary of State for Planning and Infrastructure and a number of representatives of major Spanish companies.
