Mohamed receives FNC committee

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday received the chairman, members and working teams of the Federal National Council (FNC) Elections Committee for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Jabr Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Office of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the FNC Elections Committee for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, briefed Sheikh Mohamed on the progress of work at the Abu Dhabi Committee, the results achieved and the new mechanisms that were applied in the voting process which reflected the committee's desire to ensure highest standards of efficiency, accuracy and  transparency in the management of the electoral process.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region. Sheikh Mohamed extended thanks and appreciation for the efforts exerted by the National Elections Committee (NEC), as well as its performance during all stages of the electoral process.

He also hailed the efforts exerted by the FNC Elections Committee for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi aimed at streamlining the electoral process and the notable turnout witnessed at the voting centres.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi also highlighted the role played by electoral committees and authorities, which contributed positively to the success of the national elections.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi underscored that the coming stage requires integration of efforts and activation of the role of all institutions in the country.
He also pointed out that the UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is paying much attention to provide all facilities to strengthen popular participation.
Also, the country has been giving an increasing and effective role to the Federal National Council to move steadily towards accomplishing aspirations through an empowerment programme and achieving the UAE's national interests inside and outside the country.

On his part, Al Suwaidi hailed the support given to the electoral process by the prudent leadership of the UAE, which has enabled it to develop the electoral experience and apply best practices and all means to facilitate the voting process, as well as promote the role played by the FNC in a perfect way.

Among those who also attended the meeting were Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and a number of Sheikhs.

Receives call from French President

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has received a telephone call from French President, Francois Hollande, during which they discussed ways to further enhance bilateral ties of co-operation and friendship for serving mutual interests of the friendly countries and people.

Sheikh Mohamed and President Hollande took stock of the latest developments in the Middle East, notably efforts to fight extremist groups and the international stance towards combating terrorism in the region.

The two parties also tackled joint co-ordination and common vision for eradicating extremism, violence and terrorism and reinforcing pillars of security and stability in the region.

They also exchanged views on a variety of topics of common concern.
