Mohammed amends fines, fees

Fees and fines on Ministry of Labour's services, including labour card renewal and mid-day break ban have been amended effective August 1.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has issued a Cabinet decision No. 10 for 2012 amending some provisions of the Cabinet’s decision No. 27 for 2010 with respect to fees and fines on the Ministry of Labour’s services.

The new fines are effective August 1 with the exception of fines for issuance and renewal of labour card and mission cards, which have been applicable since January 2011 following the issuance of the former decision.

The fine of issuance or renewal of a labour card after 60 days of entry date or card expiry date is now Dh1,000 for each month of delay or any part thereof while the fine of issuance of a mission card after 30 days of entry date is Dh100 for each day of delay. And that of renewing a mission card after seven days from expiry date is Dh100 per each day of delay. These fines were applicable from January 1, 2011.

Artificial Emiratisation will incur a fine of Dh20,000 per employee, and so will insertion of incorrect information in the wage protection system.

Non-settlement of fine for 60 days or more to an employee will incur a fine of Dh5,000 per employee and a maximum fine of Dh50,000. The employees signing artificial documents signifying payment of their dues will incur a fine of Dh5,000 per employee and a maximum of Dh50,000.

Violating noon work ban will incur a fine of Dh15,000 per case, while non-participation in the wage protection system will incur a fine of Dh10,000, and so will the non-adherence to the professional health, safety standards.
