His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, along with Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, and Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President, attended the final day of the traditional festival of Arabian Purebred Camel Races, at the camel racecourse in Al Wathba town on Thursday.

The event was also attended by the UAE and the GCC tribal dignitaries, who still preserve the sports of their forefathers and pass it on from one generation to another.

Honouring the owners of the winning camels, Sheikh Mohammed said, " Camel racing in the UAE and the sisterly GCC states will remain a wonderful legacy passed down from one generation to another, no matter how high our progress and development," he said, recalling the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's directive to organise the Arabian purebred camel races across the country.

Valuable awards are annually allocated to this traditional sport to commemorate and preserve the authentic Arab cultural heritage sports.
